JEE Main 2020 New Changes

  • From the year 2020, the exam will be conducted separately for BE/B.Tech, B.Arch & Planning courses. Candidates can appear for all the courses or separately.
  •  Application Fee has been increased as compared to last year and applicant can make the payment through online mode.
  • Changes in Exam pattern: New changes have been introduced in the JEE-Main 2020 exam pattern.
    • The number of questions in the exam paper has been  decreased to 25 questions (per subject) from 30 questions (per subject).
    • Apart from the MCQs in the question paper there will be questions whose answers are to be filled as  numerical values.
  • From this year onwards, the  paper pattern of B.Plan has been introduced separately in JEE Main examination.
  • From 2019 , National Testing Agency  (NTA) is having all the responsibility to conduct JEE Main entrance exams.
  • NTA will conduct JEE Main 2020  twice a year in the months of January & April and the mode of examination will be online (CBT) mode.
  • Now there is no age limit to apply for JEE Mains examination. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criterion for JEE Main can apply for the exam irrespective of their age.
  • For JEE Main Paper 2 B.Arch & B.Plan, it is compulsory for the applicants to have Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry subjects.
  • To apply for JEE Mains entrance exams 2020 Aadhar card is not  compulsory .
  • Among the candidates appearing for JEE main 2020, the top 2,45,000 will be eligible for JEE Advanced.
  • Candidates those are Diabetic will now be allowed to bring fruits and water with them in the examination hall.

JEE Main 2020 Eligibility Criteria

1. Age Criteria:

For the aspirants of JEE Main, there is no age limit for appearing in the JEE Main exam

2. Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination (QE):

  • Those candidates who have passed Class 12 examination or any equivalent examination in 2018 or 2019 are eligible to appear in JEE Main exam 2020.
  • Students appearing in their Class 12 examination or any equivalent examination in 2020 are also eligible to appear in January and April session.
  • Candidates who passed Class 12th or equivalent examination in 2017 or before and those who will appear in such examination in 2021 or after that are not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2020.

3. Qualifying subjects:

Applicant should have at least five subjects in class 12th or equivalent examination to be eligible for JEE Main exam 2020.

4. Qualifying marks:

  • Student must have secure minimum 75% (aggregate) marks in class 12th or qualifying exam to get admission into NITs, IIITs, IITs, and CFTIs.or aspirant should be in the top 20 percentile in their respective Boards of clas 12th.
  • For reserved category 65% is the minimum qualifying marks.

5. Total attempts

  • A candidate can attempt the exam in 3 consecutive years only.
  • The total number of attempts would be 6, (first year- 2 attempts, second year- 2 attempts and 3rd year- 2 attempts)

JEE Main 2020 Syllabus :

JEE Main 2020 syllabus provides the details about topics and chapters that may asked in JEE Main paper-1(B.Tech/B.E. and paper-2(B.Arc/ B.Plan) examination. Both the papers are for different courses, therefore, syllabus is also different for both. JEE Main syllabus for paper-1 contains important chapters from physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taught in 11th and 12th standard of CBSE, ICSE and other boards.
