JEE (Main) and NEET-UG UPDATE : Examinations likely to be conducted in June

Analysing the current situation of active COVID-19 cases in India, the Union Government has announced to extend the nationwide lockdown till 3rd May. Amid such a situation the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has also extended the dates of various examinations. On 20th April 2020, the Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank told an English daily that considering the current COVID-19 crises in the country, the MHRD may extend the date of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) main and NEET-UG to June 2020.

 

 

The National Testing Agency after assuming that the lockdown may end after April 14, had announced that JEE Mains and NEET-UG may be conducted in the last week of May. With the lockdown extended till 3rd May, the MHRD after consultation with UGC, NTA, IITs and the Board of Examination will finalize and announce the next date of the examinations.

 

 

Cases of COVID-19 are on a rise with a total of 17656 active coronavirus cases in the country, with 2842 successful recoveries and 559 deaths, as on 20th April 2020. Ensuring the safety and well-being of the students, the government has also launched various e-portals such as SWAYAMPRABHA, SWAYAM and IRINS, to enable students to study from the comfort of their homes. The dates to fill various examination forms and to make corrections in the application forms has also been extended.
